As a part of #HOMwork prompt, a weekly creative prompt by lettering artist Lauren Hom, I created this mural concept. The prompt was: think about the direction you want to go in for the second half of 2019 and then design something to remind yourself of that by completing the phrase, “Follow your ________.”
So far, 2019 has been a great year, full of changes and opportunities. In January, I tried out modeling for a fashion photoshoot. In April, I quit my day job and joined my best friend’s creative studio as a freelance design director. In May, I won Lauren Hom ’s scholarship to the Letter West Conference. In June, I made connections with amazing artists from all places at Letter West. And currently, I’m chasing what I want (quoting @thegraytergood) through various passion projects.
In retrospect, what enabled me to be where I am today is following my “inner voice”. Since many years ago, I wanted to change my career path: back then I was an industrial designer. But that change only happened recently because I had ignored my inner voice for so long. Nowadays, I’m full on following my inner voice. When my inner voice says to work, I work. I’ve completed a new project, a bible coloring book (in which I’ll be sharing very soon) and I’m chasing to get mural projects. When my inner voice says to rest, I rest. I detox myself from digital screens and give my body some stretching.
Life may not unravel the way I want it to; I may not achieve my goals at my desired timing. Nevertheless, I’m going to continue to follow my inner voice. The ups of “following” is far greater than that of “not following” and the downs of “following” is still better than that of “not following”.

Liberation themed enamel pin concept for Studio Salty. This collection was created as a reaction to the immense hatred in the society post election back in 2017. We wanted to send out the positive message out there. Hatred is toxic and love wins at last.
Design concepts consulted with Crystal Reed and created by Julisha Kim.

Poster contest submission for the 49th Annual University District Street Fair. Street Fair was established in 1970 as a way to heal the community after protests, street riots, and violence that had disrupted the community. Originally, Street Fair was focused more on free live music. Nowadays, it has developed into a regional event featuring handmade goods from local artists, craftsmen, and designers.
